How We Met

We met in the summer of 2022 in the Oregon District of Downtown Dayton, Ohio. What began as a simple first date at Sueño quickly turned into hours of effortless conversation, carrying on late into the evening at Tender Mercy. By the time the holidays arrived, it was clear that something meaningful had begun—and just before Christmas, we officially started our journey together.

The Proposal

We began dating on December 17, 2022, and to celebrate our first year together, we took a trip to Miami in December 2023. We loved it so much that we promised we’d make it a tradition. When we planned our return trip for December 2024, Emanuel had already begun planning to propose—until he realized Hailee might be expecting it.
Instead, Emanuel decided to create a moment she would never see coming. On October 4, 2024, following Hailee’s LPN graduation ceremony, the two went out to celebrate her incredible accomplishment. That evening, on the rooftop of the Foundry in Downtown Dayton—with glowing city views, the Dayton Dragons field below, and a roaring fireplace nearby—Emanuel got down on one knee and asked Hailee to marry him.
She said yes.

About Our Decision

💍 Why is the wedding in Columbus and not Dayton?
Shortly after the wedding, we plan to make Columbus our home. Hosting our celebration there felt like a meaningful way to anchor the beginning of our marriage in the city where we will start this next chapter together.
